Bummer

The weekend is over already.  It went way too quick.  Gotta work at 5:00 AM tomorrow.  On the up side, that means that I'll be off work at 1:30.  I'll have a quiet house for a few hours before the kids get home from school.  I love that! Anyways, hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.  :)

Tattoos

I've been looking at a lot of tattoo art the last couple of months, trying to find something I like enough to permanently embed it into my skin.  So far I haven't found anything that I can't live without, but I have come across some pretty cool stuff.

wow

I've just realized how depressing all my posts are on here.  Guess if I'm going to have a blog, I should try to be a little more upbeat.  It's too early in the morning for upbeat, though.  I'm gonna need a lot more coffee and a hot shower to inject any sort of cheerfulness at all.  Wish the coffee would brew faster.  I need a coffeepot with a timer so it can be ready when I wake up.  Aha, I think it's ready.  I hear it making that gurgling noise that it makes when it's just about finished.  Mmmmm, that's good.  Now for the hot shower.  :)

One hell of a day

Not really sure where to start this post.  I got up this morning at 1:30 AM after about 3 1/2 hours of sleep.  I had a few projects going on at work & I wanted to get them done.  It also was my kids first day of school for the year, so I wanted to be home to help them get ready.  The first day of school is always the most important to a kid. I took my lunch break around 7 AM & got my kids off to school, then went back to work at about 9:00.  At about 11:15 my cell phone rings.  I was working, so I didn't answer it, but I looked at it to see who it was.  It's my sister-in-law.  This is a bit unusual, but I didn't really think much of it.  About 5 minutes later, there is a page on the store intercom for me to take a customer call.  I pick up the phone & it's my nephew.  He tells me that my mother-in-law has passed away. Being over-tired & stressed & caught completely off guard, I lost my composure a bit.  I think I might have said a few swear words in front of some customers, but I don't know for sure.  Hopefully they didn't complain to my supervisor.  Anyways, I left the store as quickly as I possibly could, then drove to my MIL's house.  My father-in-law was a complete wreck when I got there .  He was all upset because he was in the living room drinking coffee & thought she was sleeping.  He's completely convinced that if he had been there, he coud've saved her.  She died in her sleep. According to the coroner, it was most likely a sudden massive coronary episode. There was nothing anyone could have done.  I spent a good portion of my day trying to convince my FIL of this, but I'm fairly certain he still thinks that it was all his fault.  I really hate situations like this, when there is absolutely nothing I can do do make someone feel better.  I never know the right things to say.
My husband took it pretty hard, too.  He's spending the night over there, with some other family members.  I had to come home because the kids have school in the morning.  I thought about keeping them home, but I figure school is probably a better environment for them to be in right now.  Anyways, thats about it on my day from hell.  Glad it's over.  I really need to get some sleep, cuz I think my brain turned off several hours ago.

My weekend

Sorry, didn't mean to disappear again.  I spent the day in Olympia with my sister yesterday. She lives in Portland, so it's about an hour drive for me & 1 1/2 for her.  We got our hair done & had dinner. It was very nice.  I didn't get home till pretty late, though.
Today I've been trying to catch up on the housework that didn't get done yesterday.  Gotta do laundry so I have clean clothes for work tomorrow. Hope everyone else is having a good weekend!  :)

Woohoo!!

It's finally the weekend!! I managed to make it through another week. Now if only I could make the weekend last a little longer... :-)

So I really don't have much to say today.  It was just another day.  Got up, showered, got dressed, went to work, ran my butt off for 7 hours & then came home.  I only have 7 hour shifts this week because my employers are cutting hours in order to control labor expenses.  Of course I can't even manage to get everything they expect of me done in an 8 hour shift, much less 7.  Gotta give it a shot, though.

I don't feel like cooking tonight, so I ordered teriyaki chicken from the place down the street.  They make excellent teriyaki.  Anyways, I'm going to go pick up dinner.

Root Beer Floats

Can anyone explain to me why you would need a recipe for a root beer float?  It's ice cream & root beer, not much to it.  Did you know that there are HUNDREDS of recipes for root beer floats?  All of them are pretty much the same.  Root beer & ice cream in a glass. Just wondering what kind of idiot needs a recipe for that.

And on a lighter note...

Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome

So I've spent most of my day on the internet researching Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome. It is also called wet brain or Korsakoff's psychosis.  This is the condition that my mother-in-law has been diagnosed with.  It is caused by an extreme thiamine deficiency that comes from lack of food & chronic alcohol abuse.  Basically it means that she has extreme memory loss, psychotic episodes & a major loss of coordination.  Although this condition is reversible in some cases with the administration of IV thiamine supplements & abstinence of alcohol, she refuses to give up her vodka tonics, so will likely never recover.  Very depressing.  There is basically nothing we can do for her besides make sure that she isn't left alone, so she doesn't burn the house down or something.

Welcome to my blog about nothing in particular.  I really don't have much to say, but a friend of mine convinced me that it might be fun to make one anyway. We'll see.
